Professor Muffy Calder

Professor Calder is a computing scientist whose research is in modelling and reasoning about the behaviour of complex software and biochemical systems using computer science, mathematics and automated reasoning techniques. She has collaborated with scientists and engineers, in industry and academia, in a wide range of disciplines, from electrical and aerospace engineering, to cancer and cardiovascular medicine.
She is currently Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Science and Engineering at Glasgow University; previously she was the Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland. She was impact assessor for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
Professor Calder is a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award Holder and was a Royal Society Leverhulme Research Senior Fellow. She is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and the British Computer Society. She was awarded an OBE for services to computer science in 2011.
