The main goal of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University is to understand how genes are involved in a range of common psychiatric and neurological disorders, and to use this knowledge to improve our understanding of how these diseases arise and to develop new approaches to diagnosis and treatment. Research focuses on major psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
