Lord John Browne

Lord John BrowneLord Browne is the Executive Chairman of L1 Energy, the Chairman of Huawei UK and a director of IHS Markit. He is the former CEO of BP plc.

He is the Chairman of the Courtauld Institute of Art, Chairman of the Francis Crick Institute and chairs the advisory board of Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government. He was Chairman of the Trustees of Tate until 2017.

He is a Fellow and past President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, as well as being the Chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Lord Browne was the Government Lead Non-Executive Board Member from 2010 to 2015, and chaired the committee that authored the Browne Report, an independent review of higher education published in 2010.

He is the author of 5 books, the latest being ‘Make, Think, Imagine: Engineering the Future of Civilisation’.
