Propose a treatment for clinical trials

Use our online open nominations portal to propose a treatment.

What we’re looking for

We are interested in treatments to be included in a national publicly funded trial.

Trials address prophylaxis, community based medicine, hospital and intensive care unit treatment of COVID-19. They may be phase 1, 2 or 3.

We are also interested in proposals for treatment of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC), sometimes known as ‘long COVID’.

You cannot propose vaccines through this portal.

How we assess treatments

Your proposed treatment will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • evidence for a plausible mechanism of action
  • supportive credible trial readouts
  • safety profile
  • stage of development
  • relevant patient population, including the clinically vulnerable groups
  • route of administration
  • ease and cost of manufacture and procurement
  • regulatory status.

How to submit a proposal

Please only submit your proposal once.

The portal web form does not save draft text. We recommend you save your answers in an offline document before copying into the form.

After submitting

You will receive an automated email with your designated reference number (for example, CTAP0123).

There is no set timeline after you submit. The subgroup panels are voluntary and have varying numbers of submissions to consider.

We will contact you if we need more information about your proposal.
