Details

In autumn 2020, UKRI surveyed research organisations on their UKRI-funded final-year students identified as needing an extension for their doctoral studies.

This report is an analysis of survey responses. It includes information on:

  • extensions requested and awarded
  • extension length requests
  • equality, diversity and inclusion characteristics of doctoral students requesting
  • extensions
  • reasons for extension requests.

All students in this analysis had a funding end-date between 1 March 2020 and 31 March 2021.

UKRI will publish data and analysis relating to phase two of the extensions policy later in 2021.
