Green Great Britain Week
The first annual Green Great Britain and Northern Ireland Week (Green GB Week) took place this week, October 15-19, successfully highlighting the opportunities that clean growth offers the UK., and raising awareness of how businesses, entrepreneurs and the public can contribute to tackling climate change.
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) played a key role in the week, hosting an Innovation Summit, an international research showcase, an environmental educational show at Downing Street, and much more, highlighting the innovative work taking place across the research and development landscape in the UK.
Each day of Green GB Week had a theme, from UK leadership and climate science to innovation, clean investment, business action, and concluding the week with people’s action.
The week concludes today, 19 October, with the 2018 Community Energy Awards. The awards will take place in Bristol followed by a conference with Bristol Energy Network and Bristol City Council. The conference will explore how local authorities and communities have been tackling climate change over the past decade since the Climate Change act was first enacted.
