New Executive Chair sought for Innovate UK

29/05/2019

We are seeking an inspirational leader to be Executive Chair of Innovate UK as it gears up to take centre-stage as the UK’s national innovation agency.

The Executive Chair will lead transformational change and drive a new and holistic approach to achieving Innovate UK’s mission, including creating the right conditions for growth by driving greater business investment in R&D, and the right environment for new, innovative businesses to thrive.

Innovate UK works to drive productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas, including those from the UK’s world-class research base.

Since 2007, Innovate UK have invested around £2.5 billion to help businesses across the country to innovate, with match funding from industry taking the total value of projects above £4.3 billion. They have helped 8,500 organisations create around 70,000 jobs and added an estimated £18 billion of value to the UK economy. The current budget will more than double to around £1.5 billion by 2020-21 through increased investment in the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, the flagship intervention that forms a critical part of the Government’s overall Industrial Strategy.

Dr Ian Campbell has been interim Executive Chair of Innovate UK since 4 May 2018.
