Newton Prize 2019 shortlist announced
- £1 million prize enables international research partners to tackle key global challenges such as human health, food security and climate change
- Projects aim for sustainable impact through science, research and innovation
- £1 million prize funding to be split between four winning projects
Twenty international research projects have been short-listed for the 2019 Newton Prize, which celebrates outstanding international research partnerships. The £1 million prize will be divided between four winning research projects.
The short-list includes partnerships between researchers in the UK, China, Indonesia and the Philippines, who are tackling pressing health and development issues such as malaria, antimicrobial resistance and climate change while aiming to meet sustainable development goals and contribute to gender equality.
During November 2019 the shortlisted projects will be celebrated at award events taking place in each country where the winning project for that country will be announced.
