Sir Mark Walport will deliver a series of public talks this autumn and in 2021 as part of the prize programme.
Professor Sir Mark Walport said:
“I’m delighted to be awarded the 2020 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research – it’s a great honour to be recognised for my work in this field.
“It has been an enormous privilege to be a leader in this sector in my roles at CEO of UKRI and previously as Government Chief Scientific Adviser and Director of the Wellcome Trust. Health research makes a hugely important contribution to society, which is being shown at the moment in the vital research being undertaken around the world into Covid-19. I look forward to delivering the Friesen Prize speaking programme over the coming months.”
