UKRI chief executive joins AI Council to supercharge the UK's artificial intelligence sector
UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) chief executive has been appointed to the newly formed UK Artificial Intelligence (AI) Council.
He will join experts from industry, academia and data rights to help boost the growth of AI in the UK, promote its adoption and ethical use in businesses and organisations across the country.
UK Research and Innovation Chief Executive, Professor Sir Mark Walport, said:
“It is crucial we realise the potential for AI to have a positive impact on society through new opportunities and innovations as well as improved services.
“I look forward to working as part of the AI Council in contributing to this important challenge.”
AI Council members are already leading the way in the development of AI - from using it to personalise online shopping experience, to identifying and overcoming barriers of AI adoption in society, ensuring the protection of sensitive data. These experts will help put in place the right skills, ethics and data so the UK can make the most of AI technologies and tackle some of the key challenges we face.
