Bridging for Innovators

Bridging for Innovators (B4I) offers businesses unique access to a suite of high-tech scientific facilities and knowledge to fast-track solutions to industrial challenges.

ISCF Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre

Following the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre Champion funding opportunity which identified a leader for the research components of this challenge, we now invite one full proposal from the champion to fund a multidisciplinary research and innovation programme, which currently does not exist at the scale.

ISCF Healthy Ageing Challenge Social, Behavioural and Design Research Programme outline stage

We invite outline proposals from interdisciplinary academic-led teams to research social, behavioural and design aspects of healthy ageing.

Successful projects will:

  • receive a grant of up to £2 million
  • research ways to help people enjoy at least five extra healthy, independent, years of life by 2035.

Hardware for efficient computing

There is a need to develop new hardware solutions beyond the Von Neumann architecture to achieve greater computer efficiency. A total of £3 million of funding is available to support 4-6 projects (18–36 months) under this funding opportunity.

UKRI Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Hub

UKRI invites a full proposal for an Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Hub. Up to £3.27 million (at 80% FEC) is available to support up to one hub for up to 45 months from 1 January 2021. An application will only be accepted from the successful UKRI Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Coordinators.

National Nuclear User Facility phase 2a

Eligible groups can apply for equipment and facilities to carry out underpinning science and engineering research in nuclear fission. Up to £23 million is available to provide, refresh and update underpinning multi-user equipment with a primary focus on nuclear energy research on active samples across the UK.

STFC innovations partnership scheme fellowship

Institutions can apply for funding to support a knowledge exchange and commercialisation professional for up to four years, to cultivate opportunities to turn STFC-funded research into commercial products and services or promote opportunities arising out of the research to other users. We will fund 40% of the full economic costs. Host institutions are expected to make a financial contribution to demonstrate their support.

Healthcare Impact Partnerships 2020

EPSRC invites proposals for Healthcare Impact Partnerships. This funding opportunity is intended to support novel Mathematical, Engineering, ICT and Physical Sciences research that is aligned to the Healthcare Technologies theme strategy and contributes to at least one of the Healthcare Technologies Grand Challenges.

A budget of at least £6 million is available to support projects that progress previous EPSRC-funded research towards generating impact in healthcare.
