Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowships: round two

Apply for funding to undertake world-leading research to advance the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in the UK.

This opportunity is aimed at established researchers. International applicants are welcome. However, you must be based in the UK at an organisation eligible for UK Research and Innovation funding to hold the fellowship.

Enhance the policy impact of land use research

Apply for fellowship funding to collaborate with one or more projects from the Landscape Decisions Programme.

You must be based at an organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

You can be at any career stage as long as you have relevant expertise. If you’re a PhD student, you must have submitted your thesis before starting the fellowship.

Incorporating nature into decision making in the finance sector

Apply for funding to enable the sharing of ‘nature and finance’ knowledge and expertise between:

  • academics
  • stakeholders
  • user communities.

You must be based at an eligible UK research organisation.

Your fellowship can focus on any theme or activity around research relevant to the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures.

NERC independent research fellowship 2021

Apply for funding to become an independent research fellow.

You must:

  • be an early career researcher
  • hold a PhD qualification or expect to submit your thesis before the fellowship interview.

You are not eligible to apply if you hold a tenured academic post or academic position at lecturer level.

Coordinate a programme of health inequalities research

Apply to coordinate the ‘Mobilising Cultural and Natural Assets to Combat Health Inequalities’ programme.

You must be:

  • a UK resident
  • hosted by a research organisation eligible for AHRC funding.

Future Leaders Fellowships: Round 6

The Future Leaders Fellowships is a £900 million fund for early career researchers and innovators. It supports research and innovation by outstanding individuals and helps them to establish themselves in universities, UK-registered businesses and other research and innovation environments.

Knowledge exchange fellowships

Fellowship scheme for NERC-funded researchers to enable the sharing of knowledge with stakeholders, partners and user communities. Awards are available for up to three years. Propose your own programme of work in any area across the NERC remit.

Daphne Jackson fellowship

These fellowships are for those looking to return to a research career after a break. Fellowships combine a personalised retraining programme with a challenging research project. They are flexible, usually lasting two years at 0.5 full-time equivalent, although some UKRI funders may award longer.

Independent research fellowships

Open to early-career environmental scientists looking to develop their research programmes. Five years’ support available to further the development of future leaders in NERC science. This includes fellowship networking and training activities.
