Diane Coyle, CBE, is Bennett Professor of Public Policy at the University of Cambridge. Professor Coyle is Senior Independent Member and Chair of the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) Council. She is a member of the Natural Capital Committee, a Fellow of the Office for National Statistics, and researcher at the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence. She specialises in the economics of new technologies, and public policy.
Previously, Diane was a BBC Trustee for over eight years, and also a member of the Migration Advisory Committee and the Competition Commission. She founded the consultancy Enlightenment Economics, and had previously worked as Economics Editor of The Independent, at the Treasury and in the private sector as an economist.
She has a PhD from Harvard (1985), and BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford (1981).
