Professor John Iredale

John Iredale graduated from the University of Southampton with Honours and a Clinical Distinction in 1985 and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine in 1995. He was made a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1999, the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2003, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2007, and the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2011.

John was previously the Regius Professor of Medical Science at the University of Edinburgh, where he ran the medical school and was Director of the Centre for Inflammation Research. John became a member of the Medical Research Council (MRC) in 2016.

As well as being MRC’s Interim Executive Chair, he is a non-executive director of the North Bristol NHS Trust and is Professor of Medical Sciences at the University of Bristol. He is also a trustee of the British Heart Foundation.
