The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) COVID-19 extension allocation (CoA) awards ran from 1 April 2020 to 30 September 2021 and could not be extended.
However, UKRI recognised that some grants supported by CoA were unable to fully utilise their allocated CoA funding by 30 September 2021, leading to an underspend of CoA accrued against specific grants.
Where CoA could not be spent by 30 September 2021 due to grants being extended to accommodate parental leave, sickness or in cases where staff had undertaken secondments to provide support for the UK government respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, then UKRI allowed organisations to request return of some CoA underspend, where that underspend had accrued against individual grants for the specific reasons noted here.
This document is the ‘final report’, which must be completed by all organisations in receipt of an additional COVID-19 extension allocation (ACoA) following the end date of the grant. Further details about content and how to submit your completed template are included in the document.
