Measuring impact of research and innovation for global challenges

October 2018

In October 2018, delegates from 15 countries came together for a two-day workshop in Panama to share best practices and understanding across funder, researcher, and policy maker perspectives on how to increase the impact of development-orientated research and innovation programmes. The planning and design of the workshop was co-produced by UKRI and USAID.

The report summarizes the key discussions, learnings and recommendations that emerged over the two days.

GCRF Online Community Platform

On behalf of GCRF, UKRI are piloting a new online community platform. The platform aims to facilitate researchers, technologists, practitioners and professionals interested in the sustainable development goals to network around the themes and funding calls of the GCRF. It offers the opportunity to join in the wider GCRF conversation in a number of ways, ranging from highlighting key research challenges, inviting discussions, showcasing work, and advertising for GCRF-related vacancies.

Users are also able to find GCRF funding across a range of delivery partners, and connect directly with GCRF researchers, technologists, practitioners and professionals.

The platform is being piloted for 6 months, has capacity for 1,000 members, and will be monitored by Members of staff from the UKRI International Development team.
