Details
The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) commissioned Technopolis to undertake evaluation studies to measure and demonstrate the impacts from the UK’s involvement in:
- the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) during the period 2011 to 2020
- the European XFEL facility since the UK became a member in 2018
The two reports contain the main findings of the studies.
The studies assessed the benefits to the UK in areas ranging from science and research, skills, UK policy and strategic objectives, to UK suppliers and the economy.
In addition, the reports include proposals for monitoring and evaluation frameworks that STFC could use to track benefits from these facilities in the future.
As the studies were separate but carried out in parallel, a joint methodology report is provided.
