Innovate UK council member Dr Arnab BasuDr Basu is the CEO and founder of Kromek Group plc, a leading developer of high performance radiation detection technologies. In this role, he has raised multiple rounds of financing from private equity and public markets and led the acquisition of two US businesses and UK expansion. Today, Kromek serves a global blue-chip customer base in the medical imaging, nuclear detection and security screening markets.

A prominent figure within the business community, he was awarded Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ and later received an MBE for ‘services to regional development and international trade’. In July 2016, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science by Northumbria University.

Dr Basu holds a PhD in physics from Durham University and is currently chair of the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria (AHSN) and the International Advisory Board of Newcastle University Business School.
