Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)

STFC’s mission is to deliver world-leading national and international research and innovation capabilities and, through those, discover the secrets of the Universe. Our major research and innovation campuses at Harwell, Daresbury and research facilities across the UK support fundamental research in astronomy, physics and space science.

Apply for funds to engage the public with STFC science, technology or facilities.

We’d particularly like to fund projects that engage:

  • eight to 14-year-olds, and their families, in socioeconomically deprived areas
  • groups considered to have low science capital

The project cost can be up to £15,000 (non-full economic cost).

Projects can be up to 36 months.

Boulby infrastructure development project advisory scheme

Apply for funding to support the development of a UK underground research and innovation science laboratory.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for STFC funding.

The full economic cost of your project can be up to £150,000 per year for a period of 1 or 2 years. STFC will fund 80% of the full economic cost.
