How to plan and develop publications - ESRC

The purpose of publications

Publications are likely to be a key part of your impact plan. Done well, publications can help disseminate key findings to target audiences and promote your work and brand. Done badly, they will give a poor image of your research and will cost you valuable time and money.

Before you produce any publication, you should define its purpose. Producing published material is expensive and time-consuming and it is important to be sure that it is the right channel for reaching your audience.

Any publications you produce should be clearly branded and have contact details for your project. Think about how your materials will sit together as a coherent family of publicity.
