Alzheimer’s Research UK: Research fellowships
These fellowships are for junior (non-clinical) postdoctoral researchers with high potential.
Funding: Salary plus up to £20,000 per annum toward research costs
Duration: Up to 36 months.
Alzheimer’s Society: Research fellowships
Research Fellowships are for post-doctoral researchers who have shown exceptional promise at the start of their research career. Applicants should demonstrate potential to be an independent researcher.
Career stage: Applicants are expected to be within five years of their PhD viva
Funding: Salary plus up to £25,000 per annum towards research costs
Duration: Up to three years full time or four years part-time
British Heart Foundation: Advanced training awards
These awards fund postdoctoral researchers to retrain and move into a different field of cardiovascular science.
Career stage: Within one to three years of submitting a PhD

Duration: Up to three years
British Heart Foundation: Immediate postdoctoral basic science research fellowships

This scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity.
Career stage: You’ve had a substantive period of relevant research training, but no more than three years of postdoctoral experience in your proposed field of study.
