UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is launching a second round of the Innovation Scholars Secondments scheme.
The launch of Innovation Scholars Secondments: Biomedical Sciences follows the success of a pilot earlier this year.
Helping people with research skills
Innovation Scholars aims to help people with research skills move between different sectors, such as:
- academia
- business
- the NHS.
The secondee can be at any career stage but must have relevant experience within their field.
Professor Rory Duncan, UKRI Director of Talent and Skills, said:
There is terrific benefit in sharing people, their ideas and skills between different sectors, and in eroding ‘silos.’
The Innovation Scholars Secondments scheme is actively enabling talented people to develop skills between academia, businesses and a variety of organisations. This benefits the organisations involved as well as developing the secondee and their career.
Business within the biomedical sciences
Proposals for this round of innovation scholars can come from any discipline but a business within the biomedical sciences must be either the applicant or the partner.
The new call is hosted on the Joint Electronic Submission system.

A first pilot of Innovation Scholars: Data Science Training in Health & Bioscience also opened in August with closing date in November.
The successful applicant of the pilot call will be announced later in the autumn.
