UKRI councils are moving to ukri.org – and we need your input

Shaping our new home, be part of it

Starting early this summer and throughout the year the nine council websites are moving to the new integrated UKRI site. Your input will help us shape our new home.

The new site will integrate all the UKRI corporate websites to deliver an efficient, informative, inspiring user experience – providing a strong unified voice for UKRI and its nine councils.

This transition is phase two of the major web project involving nine current websites, including:

  • seven UK research councils
  • Innovate UK
  • Research England.

For the move across to ukri.org we will need your input, to help us shape the content for the councils’ new online home.

Sign up to give us your feedback

Throughout the transition we are involving you – our users – to identify content that meets your needs and produce and structure the content so it’s provided in the most effective way.

To do this we need to work closely with you to gather crucial insight:

  • What are you looking for?
  • Can you find it on the website?
  • Is it easy to find?
  • Is it easy to read and understand?
  • Does it point to what you can do next?

This insight will shape the look and functionality of our web pages. That’s why we want to recruit you to participate in our user research.

This is your chance to provide the insights that will make the integrated UKRI website an effective and impactful resource for all our audiences.

Shaping our new home

The development of the integrated UKRI website builds on user research showing that much of the content is duplicated over several sites and meets the same user needs. The new UKRI site will create one place for users to go to, instead of having to check multiple sites.

The new website currently houses:

  • the funding finder with all funding opportunities
  • news from all UKRI councils
  • UKRI corporate content.

The move to one site opens new possibilities for what we can offer our users. The new funding finder, for instance, has made it possible to see all funding opportunities in one place, while filtering for open or closed opportunities, award type and funding councils.

Moving content throughout 2021

During the next phase of the project we’ll gradually transition content from the council sites into the UKRI site.

Rather than transitioning council by council, we will review, transform and transition content in themes throughout 2021. We expect to see the first content transition during early summer, with the project continuing throughout the rest of this year.

We have worked with the National Archives to store the current sites as an online repository for legacy content. This means that old content will be available at the National Archives Web Archive even after we have reviewed and transitioned web content to the integrated UKRI site.

Once the council transition is completed we’ll have a fully integrated UKRI website. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the future home of our councils at ukri.org/councils.
