Advanced therapies firms of all sizes, charities and catapults are being invited to join a briefing to explore opportunities for business in Canada.

Participants can pose questions to a panel of UK and Canadian leaders in the advanced therapy sector. The panel will showcase important opportunities for UK and Canadian businesses who may be interested in international collaboration.

Register

Businesses and other interested organisations can register for the briefing, which takes place on Thursday 21 January (Cvent website). Participants can also request access, when registering, to a one to one partnering system to book meetings with other attendees.

Canada and the UK have strong collaborative links in research and innovation. Bilateral funding programmes exist between UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and its Canadian counterpart, the National Research Council.

In addition, Canada is investing heavily in advanced therapies, through government funding programmes and Canada’s Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine.

Global missions

The briefing follows a Global Expert Mission which saw more than 30 organisations, including small and medium-sized enterprises and the third sector travel to Canada (Toronto and Vancouver) in February 2020.

The aim of the mission was to better understand the country’s research and innovation landscapes and to establish potential opportunities for collaboration in the advanced therapies sector. This webinar will present the findings and insights from the mission.

Further information

To help UK businesses become truly global enterprises through strategic collaboration, UKRI launched its Global Expert Missions in October 2017.

The missions provide an expert-led evidence base to strengthen Innovate UK’s global investment strategy: how and where it should invest to create UK business opportunities in partnerships with important economies.

Each mission has representatives from UK business, policy and the research community. The missions aim to inform UK businesses and government, build international collaborations and showcase UK capabilities.
