Applications are welcome from eligible institutions that are able to demonstrate the ability to host a CDT by meeting all the criteria detailed in the opportunity.

UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in artificial intelligence

Apply for funding for a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) focused on the applications and implications of artificial intelligence (AI).

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Proposals are welcomed within priority areas addressing UK training needs in novel and existing AI technologies across the remit of UKRI.

BBSRC-STFC facility access funding for bioscience partnerships

Apply for funding to support UK business and bioscience academic partnerships in accessing and benefitting from STFC skills, expertise, capabilities, and world class facilities to find solutions to industrially-relevant challenges.

You don’t need an academic partner to submit an expression of interest, but it is required for the full proposal stage.

Apply for funding to support nuclear physics research.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for STFC funding and a member of the nuclear physics community.

Public Engagement Reaction Awards

We will fund quick-response public engagement programmes to:

  • deliver high-profile public engagement activities
  • champion STFC science and technology and its impact on society
  • interact with STFC’s public engagement and communication teams, including participation in STFC networks and event

Funding large or complex scientific projects

Apply for funding to develop a large or complex scientific project.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Your project must be focused on one of the following:

  • particle physics
  • nuclear physics
  • astronomy
  • particle astrophysics
  • accelerator physics
  • computing for physics.

Return to research support bursary

You can apply for this bursary if you are a researcher looking to return to an academic research career after a break of two or more years.

You can get funding of up to £2,500 for no more than six months to support you in developing a proposal suitable for submission to the STFC fellowship scheme.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships help businesses to partner with an academic organisation, research organisation or a Catapult, to employ a graduate with the skills and knowledge that can help the business to innovate and grow.
