Artificial intelligence innovation to accelerate health research

Apply for funding to develop innovative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to be applied to health challenges.

Proposals from multidisciplinary teams are welcomed within priority areas in AI for health from across the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) remit.

To lead an application, you must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Explore the requirements of exascale software for UK science

Apply for funding to explore emerging exascale software and algorithms requirements for UK science.

Up to 5 awards will be made for 18 months.

You can be from any area of the UK research community. You do not need to be a researcher working within EPSRC’s remit.

Software enabled quantum computation

Apply for funding to develop the theoretical capabilities required to develop improved quantum computing architectures to ensure that the UK has the capabilities required to exploit these technologies effectively.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Quantum technologies for positioning, navigation, and timing

Apply for funding to accelerate the development of quantum technologies for positioning, navigation, and timing technologies through development of the underpinning capabilities required to exploit these technologies effectively.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence

Apply for funding to co-develop research and coordination activities that support the UK’s capacity for interdisciplinary leadership in responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Artificial intelligence research to enable UK’s net zero target

Apply for funding for research into the use of artificial intelligence in addressing net zero challenges.

Applications must cross at least 2 research councils remits and respond to the highlighted themes.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Leader for research in digital twinning for decarbonising transport

Apply for funding to lead the establishment of a large scale, interdisciplinary, digital twinning research hub to support both the decarbonisation and improved integration of the transport systems in the UK.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding.

EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training

This funding opportunity is only open to applications assessed in the outline stage of the EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) funding exercise and invited to submit to the second stage.

EPSRC expects to commit up to £325 million to support approximately 40 CDTs across the engineering and physical science landscape.

UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in artificial intelligence

Apply for funding for a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) focused on the applications and implications of artificial intelligence (AI).

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding and have been successful at the outline stage.

Proposals are welcomed within priority areas addressing UK training needs in novel and existing AI technologies across the remit of UKRI.

Artificial intelligence hubs for real data and for scientific and engineering research

Following an outline stage, successful applicants are invited to submit full proposals for an artificial intelligence (AI) research hub in either AI for Real Data or AI for Science.

This investment will advance the use of AI when working with challenging and complex data and accelerate the use of AI in science.
