Our aim is to build upon these strong foundations and the UK’s leading position to realise the full potential of artificial intelligence (AI).
We are continuing to work closely with the UK government and delivery partners to harness the significant global opportunity presented by AI.
Through a number of recent high-profile investments, we are working to boost the UK’s leading role in AI and its reputation as a great place to study, invest and work within this field.
These include:
- UKRI AI Centres for Doctoral Training
- the Turing AI Fellowships
- the AI for Science and Government programme delivered by The Alan Turing Institute
UKRI has already invested in a rich AI research and innovation portfolio that has contributed to the creation of a healthy UK AI ecosystem. We are now using this foundation to demonstrate the benefits of AI and establish what the next steps are for UKRI and the UK AI community.
To enable us to achieve this, we are working on creating a series of case studies about how UKRI-funded AI research has moved the area forward and has had an impact on society and the economy.
