Dr Annette Doherty

Annette DohertyDr Annette Doherty OBE FRSC is a member of the Innovate UK Council.

Annette has 35 years of international experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including at Warner-Lambert, Pfizer and most recently GSK where she was Senior Vice President, Global Head of Product Development and Clinical Supply. She has been directly involved in the research, development and launch of over 30 new medicines in respiratory, infectious diseases, cancer and inflammatory conditions.

She is currently Senior Advisor at Frazier Life Sciences, a team investing in and building companies developing and commercializing novel therapeutics. She has served on the boards of various organisations including the Association for British Pharmaceutical industry and the Medical Research Council.

She is Non-Executive Director at Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust and holds Trustee positions at several charities including:

  • Addenbrookes Hospital Charitable Trust
  • The Royal Society of Chemistry
  • St John Ambulance
  • Tonbridge Grammar School Academy Trust

She has a BSc in Chemistry and PhD in Organic Synthesis from Imperial College London and conducted postdoctoral research with a NATO fellowship at Ohio State University.

She has been elected as the next President of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2024 to 2026).

In 2009, Annette was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to the pharmaceutical sector.
