Beccy Shipman

ESRC Deputy Director of Data Strategy and Infrastructure

Beccy Shipman is Deputy Director of Data Strategy and Infrastructure at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Beccy is responsible for leading the management of ESRC’s portfolio of infrastructures involved with collecting, analysing and making data available. These include Understanding Society, Centre for Longitudinal Studies, the British Election study, and a number of other longitudinal and cross-sectional studies. Beccy is a member of the UK Research and Innovation Pride Network.

Prior to joining the ESRC, Beccy was a researcher on ESRC-funded projects focused on transnational families, and gay and lesbian marriage. She then worked at a number of academic libraries, including the University of Leeds, in the areas of open research, digital collections, repositories and research support.
