ESRC Head of Productivity and Growth Team
David Bowkett is Head of Productivity and Growth Team at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
David joined ESRC in 2022 as Head of Productivity and Growth.
He has experience of working across the UK research councils and on UK Research and Innovation-funded projects in a university setting.
His most recent role was based at the University of Oxford and supported by Research England’s Connecting Capabilities fund. This programme of work involved a consortium of universities, research institutes and Catapults sharing resources to accelerate the translation and commercialisation of research into the biology of ageing.
Prior to this, David worked for both the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. He managed a range of programmes relating to:
- knowledge exchange
- industry collaboration
- student training
David has an undergraduate degree in chemistry and a PhD in medicinal chemistry.
