Joy Todd

ESRC Deputy Director for Research

Joy Todd is Deputy Director for Research at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Joy’s role involves oversight of the delivery of ESRC’S strategic research priorities.

Her experience at ESRC includes development and commissioning of research, training, and knowledge exchange activities in the areas of health, social care, understanding behaviour, and environmental research.

Joy has a wealth of experience in working in partnership across UK Research and Innovation and with other UK and international research funders including government departments and third sector organisations. Joy’s international experience includes developing joint research funding opportunities with the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health in the US and the Canadian Institute of Health Research.

Joy has been with ESRC since 2002. Her career at ESRC also involves time as Head of Health and Human Behaviour research, and Head of Corporate Strategy.
