ESRC Head of Grants Delivery Team
Lorna Friis is Head of Grants Delivery Team at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The team provides expertise and consistency in delivering grant funding through both Responsive and Managed Mode commissioned activities. Lorna is Secretary to the Grants Delivery Group (GDG), which makes funding decisions on Responsive grants based on recommendations from the Grant Assessment Panels (GAPs).
Following a PhD and postdoctoral studies in microbial immunology, Lorna first joined the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in 2012 and has since been involved in commissioning a wide range of funding opportunities across the research councils including BBSRC, ESRC and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Most recently Lorna has worked to harmonise policy, funding models, systems and processes across UK Research and Innovation and aims to continue this work for ESRC, liaising with colleagues to implement efficient and effective peer review assessment processes.
