ESRC Council member
Professor Rachel Brooks is a member of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Council.
Rachel is Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at the University of Surrey. Her research covers the sociology of education, families and youth, and she has published widely in these areas.
Rachel is a fellow of the UK’s Academy of Social Sciences and a member of Governing Council of the Society for Research into Higher Education. She was a member of the education sub-panel for Research Excellence Framework 2021.
She is also editor-in-chief of Sociology, an executive editor of the British Journal of Sociology of Education, and co-edits the Routledge ‘Research into Higher Education’ book series.
