Director – Health & Life Sciences
Richard is the Director for Health and Life Sciences for Innovate UK.
Richard leads the health and care team. This provides funding and support for industry-led innovation across a range of healthcare areas, including precision medicine, advanced therapies, medicines discovery and digital health. As of 2021, the Innovate UK healthcare innovation portfolio comprises more than 200 live projects representing a total investment of over £200 million.
Prior to joining Innovate UK, Richard worked in technology transfer, research and development management, and research and innovation roles in industry and the public sector. This included working in pharmaceutical and vaccine discovery and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) product innovation. Richard’s technical background is in microbiology.
