Dr Roger Highfield

MRC Council member

Roger Highfield is a member of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Council.

Roger is the Science Director of the Science Museum Group. He is also Visiting Professor of Public Engagement at the Dunn School, University of Oxford, and the Department of Chemistry, University College London.

Previously, Roger was the Editor of New Scientist magazine between 2008 and 2011 and the Science Editor of the Daily Telegraph between 1988 and 2008. Roger has also written nine books, including two bestsellers, and contributed to various publications, including:

  • Mosaic
  • the Observer
  • Tortoise
  • Esquire
  • The Sunday Times
  • the Guardian
  • the Evening Standard
  • The Economist

He was also one of the judges for MRC’s Max Perutz Science Writing Award.
