Details

This evaluation carried out by Clarivate is a bibliometric analysis of EPSRC-funded papers published between 2008 and 2017.

It finds that EPSRC research accounted for over 1% of global research output in relevant disciplines and 86.5% of them received at least one citation, in the period analysed.

The overall normalised citation impact of EPSRC-funded papers was 60% higher than the global average, and the percentage of highly cited papers (at the 10%, 5%, and 1% levels) exceeded the global averages by factors of 1.7, 1.8, and 2.0 respectively.

At the national level, EPSRC-funded papers contributed to over a quarter of the UK research output.
