At the beginning of 2020 we launched a fundamental review of the social science PhD. The focus was the skills needed by social science graduates and the optimum ways to develop them. Their evidence report was published in October 2021. This document, which includes input from the Steering Group, provides ESRC’s response to the report. It sets out our vision for postgraduate training and the actions we will be taking to tackle the issues identified.
