The TTE awards are funded by the EPSRC digital economy (DE) theme. They are designed to help record and promote the impact of DE research supported by UKRI.

The aims of the TTE awards are to:
- record the impact and benefits the DE theme’s research is having, or is expected to have, on society and the economy
- tell a tale of how the impact developed, so the wider research community can learn from examples of best practice
- engage the public with digital economy research so they can see how it helps meet various challenges
- support UKRI’s work on equality, diversity and inclusion.
The award started in 2011 and three awards are made each year.
Award winners receive a grant from EPSRC that gives them access to £10,000 at 100% full economic cost over 18 months.
Applications are open to individuals and teams from all career stages in academia (including PhD students), industry, users and the third sector.
