EPSRC Council

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s (EPSRC) Council consists of an executive chair and 12 ordinary members. The executive chair is appointed by the secretary of state, while the ordinary members are appointed by the Nominations and Renumerations Committee of UKRI Board.

One member of the council is appointed as a senior independent member (SIM), whose role is to support the executive chair and to assure them and the board of the effective operation of the council. The SIM also provides a route to escalate problems and concerns from within the council independently to the chair and the board.
