The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) community webinar took place on 19 November 2021, hosted by Executive Chair, Professor Melanie Welham. The 90 minute webinar provided an introduction into the development of UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) five-year strategy, highlighted BBSRC strategic priorities and discussed plans to refresh BBSRC’s strategic delivery plan.
This was an interactive webinar and all areas of the bioscience community were invited to provide early input and insight into refreshing the BBSRC strategic delivery plan, which will sit alongside UKRI’s developing five-year strategy. The UKRI strategy will be guided by the four principles: diversification, connectivity, resilience and engagement, connecting discovery to prosperity and public good.
This is UKRI’s first long-term strategy and will highlight opportunities for research and innovation as the basis of a sustainable, inclusive knowledge economy and UKRI’s unique role in enabling this.
BBSRC’s strategic delivery plan will describe our role in delivering UKRI’s vision and mission and will build upon the Forward look for UK bioscience that was published in 2018 and on BBSRC’s 2019 delivery plan.
