European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) has a number of business incubation centres (BICs) across Europe that are designed to create new business opportunities and jobs by translating space technologies, applications and services into viable business ideas in the non-space marketplace.

The ESA BIC Harwell, located at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, is managed by STFC Innovations Limited, the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) technology transfer office.

The ESA BIC Harwell has specialist capabilities in innovation, exploration and instrumentation, as well as expertise in areas such as earth observation, astronomy, operations, data management, advanced electronics, detectors, optics and robotics. It offers a unique and intensive package of services and support to up to 10 start-up companies per year in a high-tech, open innovation environment.
