This webinar provides an update on developments in the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Funding Service, focusing on the introduction of structured research policy questions from the start of May 2026.
These questions will be used for all new funding opportunities, will be mandatory for research and fellowship opportunities, and applied where relevant across other funding types.
The session will explain what is changing, why these updates matter, and how they will support safer, more ethical and more consistent research funding decisions.
The policy areas covered are:
- Trusted Research and Innovation
- Ethics and Responsible Research and Innovation (including Animals and the 3Rs, GMOs, and Human Participation in health-related research)
- Official Development Assistance
The webinar will also outline what applicants and supporting teams will be expected to provide, and how the new approach will help UKRI make more informed, consistent and proportionate funding decisions.
The session is designed for research office administrators, subject matter experts, and anyone who supports funding applicants.
