UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is one of the environmental sustainability concordat’s initial group of signatories and calls on other organisations to join.

UKRI is pleased to confirm that it has signed up to the cross-sector concordat for the environmental sustainability of research and innovation practice, which has been published today.

Embedding environmental sustainability

The concordat supports the government ambition to achieve net zero by 2050 and aligns with UKRI’s aims as both funder and deliverer of research and innovation.

Alongside other signatories and supporters, we are committing to progressively embedding environmental sustainability into all aspects of research and innovation practices.

Research and innovation are critical in understanding how our planet is changing and in creating solutions for the challenges we face.

The concordat supports a shared ambition to continue this work while creating meaningful and long-lasting change to collectively reduce the environmental impacts of carrying out research.
