Purchase mid-range equipment for biosciences research: ALERT 2021

Apply for funding for mid-range equipment for research across BBSRC’s scientific areas.

Organisations can apply for a share of up to £500,000, inclusive of VAT, to develop high level design concepts for a UK National Robotics Proving Ground.

Environmental science: NERC standard and new investigator grants

Apply for funding to carry out a research project in any area of environmental science in the remit of NERC.

You must be:

  • based at an eligible UK research organisation
  • at lecturer level, or equivalent

If applying for a ‘new investigator’ grant, you must also be at the start of your independent scientific career.

Researching zoonotic pathogen emergence, detection and protection

Apply for funding to:

  • improve understanding of the animal-human-environment interface
  • develop vaccine and diagnostics technology platforms to improve animal health.

You must be:

  • a UK scientist based at an eligible UK institute
  • working in the fields of animal health or detection and prevention technologies in relation to zoonotic diseases.

Innovate UK smart grants: Oct 2021

UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £25 million for game-changing and commercially viable research and development (R&D) innovation that can significantly impact the UK economy.

This funding is from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation

SBRI: vaccines for epidemic diseases

Organisations can apply for a share of up to £10 million inclusive of VAT, to enhance clinical and regulatory preparedness of vaccines against diseases that have outbreak potential in a low- or middle-income country.

Public engagement with STFC science, technology or facilities

Apply for funding to engage the public with STFC-supported science, technology or facilities.

This opportunity is open to a wide range of organisations.

You can apply if you’re a UK organisation with an annual financial report and accounts.

Your project must focus on an area within the remit of STFC.

Advancing adolescent mental health and wellbeing research

Apply for funding to help improve research in the field of ‘adolescence, mental health and the developing mind’ through:

  • methodological innovation
  • capability building.

You can be researcher at any career stage who is:

  • within the remit of AHRC, ESRC or MRC
  • based in the UK
  • from a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Business and academia prosperity partnership: fifth round

Apply for funding to support an established research partnership between business and academic institutions.

Prosperity partnership programmes must:

  • be led by a business
  • address EPSRC’s delivery plan priorities, particularly for delivering economic and social prosperity.

Improve the sustainability of urban systems and infrastructure

Apply for funding to develop research networks that will focus on improving the sustainability of urban systems and infrastructure.

You must be:

  • a UK resident
  • based at an eligible research organisation.

You can apply for one of three networks on:

  • green infrastructure development
  • low carbon connected digital infrastructure
  • sustainable urban systems.
