ESRC responsive mode: working with Luxembourg researchers round two

This opportunity funds collaborative work with researchers in Luxembourg, governed by an agreement between UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and FNR in Luxembourg.

You may submit collaborative research proposals in any area of social sciences within the remit of both ESRC and FNR.

ESRC responsive mode: research grants round two

This opportunity funds researcher-driven basic, applied, and strategic research from any disciplines and on any topics in ESRC’s remit, as long as the social sciences are more than 50% of the focus and effort.

You can be based at any eligible UK research organisation to apply for ESRC funding.

International Placement Scheme 2026

Apply to undertake a placement at an international cultural institution. You must either be:

  • a PhD student funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) or Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)

Apply for funding to establish an independent What Works Centre (WWC) for local employment support.

Future Leaders Fellowships: round 11

Funding to support ambitious research and innovation across UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)’s remit. You must be a researcher or innovator who is looking to establish or transition to independence.

Centre for Longitudinal Studies: 2027 to 2031 (invite only)

Apply for funding to support the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS ) in managing Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)’s life-course cohort portfolio. This will ensure the continued provision of longitudinal data for UK social science research, policy, and practice.

Metascience research grants: round two

Apply for funding to undertake cutting-edge Metascience research into more effective ways of conducting and supporting research and development (R&D), including the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and the challenges of measuring research excellence.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding.

British Election Study 2027 to 2032

Apply for funding to run the British Election Study between 2027 and 2037, and the funding for the 2029 UK general election in Great Britain and surveys aligned to local elections.
