Apply for funding to enhance understanding of how the West Antarctic Ice Sheet will respond to a two degree increase in global temperature.

Acquired data will be used to test climate and ice sheet models.

Establish a 1.2 GHz nuclear magnetic resonance research facility

Apply for funding to procure, install, and operate a 1.2 GHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility in the UK.

The facility must benefit all relevant research communities.

Pre-announcement: Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowships: rounds two and three

Apply for funding to carry out world-leading artificial intelligence (AI) research in the UK.

There are no set eligibility criteria for this award. However, you should show that you:

  • have international standing in your area
  • can add value to AI research in the UK
  • can build AI capability and capacity in the UK.

This funding opportunity will open in spring 2022.

Undertake activities related to scientific ocean drilling

  • training
  • outreach.

You can apply for this scheme at any time during the current phase of the research programme (2020 to 2024).

Daphne Jackson fellowship

These fellowships are for those looking to return to a research career after a break. Fellowships combine a personalised retraining programme with a challenging research project. They are flexible, usually lasting two years at 0.5 full-time equivalent, although some UKRI funders may award longer.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships help businesses to partner with an academic organisation, research organisation or a Catapult, to employ a graduate with the skills and knowledge that can help the business to innovate and grow.

NERC urgency funding

This fund allows researchers to respond quickly to transient and unexpected scientific opportunities. These may be events affecting the environment like earthquakes or volcanic eruptions.

You can apply if you are a research group or individual based at a UK university or other approved institution. We will fund up to 80% of your project’s cost.
