Apply to switch your existing funding to COVID-19 priority areas

UKRI has put in place the following process to allow researchers to repurpose existing UKRI standard grant to address COVID-19 research priorities.

Get funding for ideas that address COVID-19

Proposals are invited for short-term projects addressing and mitigating the health, social, economic, cultural and environmental impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.

UK-Canada Globalink doctoral exchange scheme

A new and exciting opportunity for UKRI and Canadian doctoral students to participate in a UK-Canada research exchange scheme.

Now open for the third round for applications from UKRI funded doctoral students until 15 December 2020, the UK-Canada Globalink doctoral exchange scheme will support travel, living and research costs for the students in their chosen field of study. Following a competitive application process, the first exchanges will take place from April 2021.

Public Engagement Nucleus Awards

We want to:

  • support novel, high-quality public engagement activities that highlight STFC’s science and technology
  • create a network of public-engagement practitioners who involve colleagues, students, and the public, in their activities
  • encourage you to demonstrate the excitement of research and the value of STEM to the UK.

CLASP energy and healthcare, stage 1

STFC’s Challenge Lead Applied Systems Programme (CLASP) is designed to assist the translation of STFC-funded research to help solve a societal challenge in the healthcare and energy areas. You must demonstrate that the project is developed from core technology or research, or in STFC labs.

Innovation Scholars secondments: biomedical sciences

UKRI invites applications for individuals wishing to spend up to 36 months (full or part-time) on secondment.

Both the individuals and the proposals can come from any discipline. But either the seconding or receiving organisation must be a business within the biomedical sciences sector.

Particle physics experiment grants

Particle physics research grants support research in the areas of experimental and theoretical particle physics and certain aspects of particle astrophysics. Applications for work in these areas are assessed by the Particle physics grants panel.

STFC follow-on funding: Feb 2021

You can apply for funding for proof-of-concept work that follows up STFC-funded research and shows how it could be turned into a potential commercial application. Support is available for 80% of the full economic costs of projects with a total value of £110,000 and lasting up to 12 months.

STFC innovations partnership scheme: Feb 2021

You can apply for funding to work with industry or other non-academic partners to turn STFC-funded research into commercial products and services.

Support of up to £360,000 is available for 80% of the full economic costs of projects with a total value of up to £450,000 and lasting up to 36 months.

Future Leaders Fellowships: Round 6

The Future Leaders Fellowships is a £900 million fund for early career researchers and innovators. It supports research and innovation by outstanding individuals and helps them to establish themselves in universities, UK-registered businesses and other research and innovation environments.
