Search and filter this listInstitutions can apply for funding to support a knowledge exchange and commercialisation professional for up to four years, to cultivate opportunities to turn STFC-funded research into commercial products and services or promote opportunities arising out of the research to other users. We will fund 40% of the full economic costs. Host institutions are expected to make a financial contribution to demonstrate their support.
This scheme is to support the best scientists, engineers and technical staff within STFC’s community to undertake extended programmes of high quality, innovative public engagement.
You can make requests for a range of activities within gravitational waves research. This may include:
- small scale development of new technologies
- commissioning and operation of detectors to ensure continuity of observation
- development and application of tools to model signals.
Apply for funding to research the reasons for vulnerability to COVID-19 and the differential social, cultural and economic impacts of the pandemic on minority ethnic groups.
We invite PhD students to work with non-academic partners on projects that fall within the STFC core science programme of astronomy, particle physics, nuclear physics and accelerator science. Projects must aim to apply technologies or techniques developed within the programme into other areas.
Apply to the Panel for the Allocation of Telescope Time (PATT) to support competitively awarded science observation time at astronomy facilities. This can be through:
- a grant – over £5,000
- a claim for travel and subsistence – under £5,000.
You can apply if you are a postdoctoral researcher working in theoretical physics or related areas of mathematics and computer science.
Each year we aim to fund up to 10 of the next generation’s visionary scientists. Fellowships can last for up to four years and the funding you can receive varies widely.
Up to £4.5 million of funding is available from EPSRC to support approximately four to eight Research Software Engineer (RSE) fellows in the EPSRC remit for a duration of up to five years.
Up to £0.6 million of funding is available from STFC to support one RSE fellow in the STFC remit for a duration of up to five years.
