Jonathon Pearce headshotJonathan Pearce is Director of Strategy and Planning at the Medical Research Council (MRC).

Jonathan is responsible for the effective and coordinated development of MRC strategy and delivery plans, working collaboratively across UKRI and with academia, charities, industry and government.

Prior to his current role, Jonathan led the MRC’s research response to COVID-19 with partners from across UKRI, the UK government and internationally. In his time at MRC, he has had responsibility for infections and immunity, chaired the UKRI’s £85 million antimicrobial resistance initiative, led the MRC’s £60 million precision medicine initiative, and established the council’s translational research funding scheme.

Jonathan joined MRC in 2008. Prior to this he undertook academic research, followed by roles in life sciences venture capital and strategic consulting.
