In 2025 UKRI announced changes to the training grant conditions following a review from an equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) perspective.

As part of its review, UKRI commissioned the UKRI EDI Caucus to conduct a series of focus groups with students and staff to appraise the current conditions and some proposed changes.

The report is being published as part of the commitment to review the training grant conditions in the new deal for postgraduate research.
